About Sari Neave, LMSW:

Sari is a licensed psychotherapist with a specialty in helping patients with depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. Her areas of focus include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Ketamine, Cannabis, and Psychedelic Psychotherapy and Integration Therapy, Psychedelic Harm Reduction, Solution Focused (Brief) Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness/Meditation, Client Centered Therapy, Emotionally Focused, Family / Marital, Psychodynamic, and Trauma Focused Therapy.

She enjoys the curative impact of psychotherapy and developing and strengthening inner self awareness, understanding, and self-acceptance.

Sari recognizes that life is full of challenges and transitions. Her goal, as a therapist, is to ease those difficulties by partnering with her clients to build on their strengths and deepen their perspectives. She provides clear guidance and explanations, compassionate confrontation, warmth, and a safe space for exploration, discovery, and healing. She works with her clients to explore what their ideal life looks like, the changes they want, and then create a plan to help them get there.

She also helps her clients learn coping skills that resolve depressive thoughts, anxiety, fears, negative thinking, and panic attacks, through goal-oriented talk therapy, positive psychology, and mindfulness approaches.

She believes the therapeutic alliance is a partnership to help clients achieve their goals. There is not ‘a one size fits all’ solution, but rather a combination of therapeutic approaches that is tailored to each individual client.

Education & Experience:

Sari earned her Masters of Social Work from Fordham University and a BA in both Psychology and Criminal Social Justice from Penn State University.

Sari started her career at WJCS, the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. She provided educational, counseling, and emotional support to clients through one-on-one counseling and support groups, was responsible for intake interviews, diagnoses, treatment planning, implementation of treatment, and termination of treatment. She also worked with patients and guardians, social workers, and other agencies to provide collaborative care and communication alignment.

Sari has experience working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and life stages and welcomes people of all racial identities, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and religious affiliations.

Personal interests:

Sari strives to be authentic and practices the skills she discusses in therapy. She works to improve her life by having new experiences, meditation and mindfulness, exercise (preferably cardio), reading, and listens to many podcasts to further her learning and understanding of human behavior and the world surrounding us. She also has a passion for traveling and experiencing different foods and cultures.
